Kanye West

Jay Leno moved into Prime Time tonight.  His first guest slated to appear on the show was Jerry Seinfeld, with musical guests Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Rihanna.  Jay got more than he bargained for when Kanye West took the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, and did something that he’ll probably remember forever.  He spoke to Jay Leno about the incident in the interview below.  Kanye accepted full responsibility for his actions, and communicated a sense of regret for bursting on the stage, and more importantly, for affecting Taylor Swift.  He said that his goal has always been to help someone, and after Jay asked Kanye how Ms. West would have reacted to his actions, Kanye paused for a longtime before admitting that he is still dealing with his pain, something that he has somewhat buried through non-stop music making and touring.  It’s somewhat interesting because in this interview, Kanye said that it was music and getting lost in music that was his pain remover, that it was shielding him from dealing with everything.  It’s a normal part of the growth process to step passed that, and let everything in, and vice versa, let all the feelings out.

When I say he may always remember the VMA’s 2009, it may be on a positive note, as it marks a larger improvement…Somewhere Michael Richards is hoping his late night apology went as well…I wonder if Kanye ever regretted getting that design in his hair, like he was sitting in the chair thinking, ‘man this is gonna look fresh for the VMA’s…’  Didn’t work out that way.
