Aloe Blacc

Aloe Blacc’s new LP, Good Things, has been on my list of most anticipated since the colder months of 2010 when “I Need A Dollar” hit HBO’s “How To Make It In America”.  The show sparked a huge buzz for Aloe Blacc, who’s been on his grizzy since the late 90’s, sharpening his skills in Cali’s rich underground, running with the likes of Exile and others.  This album is Aloe’s second to be released on Stones Throw, and as he told us back in June, it is more musically focused than his first LP.  He said, “I think Shine Through was a great introduction to my career. It was almost like the table of contents to my future. It showcased soul, salsa, dancehall, Hip Hop, experimental, dance, and other styles. Good Things is the first chapter where I focus on soul music.”

Good Things is 13 tracks deep.  It kicks off with “I Need A Dollar” and never stops.  Stand out tracks include “Miss Fortune”, “Hey Brother”, “Good Things” to name a few.  As NPR states in their write-up, you can expect this to get some nods for year end album of the year lists.  Hit the jump to stream the LP from now until it’s 9.28 release.
