I’m ashamed to say that I hadn’t heard of Amare Symoné until a recent show earlier in the year. In that performance, she showcased a level of passion and vocal maturity that is rarely seen in emerging artists of today. Needless to say, I took the time to listen to her older tracks along with her newest Hello Heathrow EP. Verdict? I definitely slept because Amare Symoné is a vocal and lyrical force to be reckoned with. (So if you don’t know, now you do.)

As expected, Amare keeps that same energy with her new single titled “L.B.E”  (Light Brown Eyes). A warm and soulful track, it recounts Amare’s experience living as a young black woman in Brooklyn. Inspired by the Netflix series, YOU, the lens of “L.B.E” is in the view of a secret admirer who falls hard for a woman with —you guessed it— light brown eyes. Though, initially a harmless concept the song warps to reveal the illusions of adorations as pure obsession.

Take a listen and be on the lookout because Amare Symoné is up next.
