Last July, Vogue Italia released an iconic issue titled The Black Issue.  The issue included models Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman, Naomi Campell, Liya Kebede, Sessilee Lopez amongst other popular African-American models and legends.  The purpose of the issue was to send the message of diversity and to open up the eyes of the audience as well as the industry about incorporating all types of people and ethnicities in the fashion world.  Now, in praise of last year’s successful issue, editor Franca Sozzani wanted to feature another icon, Barbie.  The first black Barbie was Francie, released in 1967 followed by the the first Black Barbie in 1980.  This fall, there will be a luanch of black Barbie dolls called the So In Style dolls for collector’s everywhere.  For the dolls, visit www.barbiecollector.com.  Check out images from the issue after the jump!
