Yauch

In July of 2009 Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys announced that he was diagnosed with cancer.  The announcement came on the precipice of the release of their new album, The Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1, and in a summer festival run.  The Beastie Boys delayed their album release, and canceled their shows to focus on Yauch’s recovery.  In October of 2010, The Beastie Boys announced that they were back and that they would still make the planned spring 2011 release of The Hot Sauce Committee Pt 2.  Mike D told BBC Radio One that Yauch was now cancer free, and the Beastie Boys are open to touring once Yauch feels ready.  Right now, the Beastie Boys are finishing up “a big video,” he said. “I know people don’t make big videos any more but we made a big video. It’s not even a video, it’s a film-eo. A cinematic, short film.”

Hopefully Mike D. is referring to “Fight For Your Right Revisited”, a film Yauch is directing that continues the story from the Beastie Boys 1986 video, “Fight For Your Right To Party”.  The film stars Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Elijah Wood, Jack Black, and others.
