Most music commentary recently has relied heavily on the low German base of the English language. Hyphenating endless strings of words trying to find the right combination of influences to describe a band. In the information age where access to the musical history of the universe is a thought away, the chimeras become endless. It becomes easier to create a category first and find bands that fill it than the other way around. Just name it, chill-wave, disco-punk, jazz-rock… doesn’t really matter because in the end good music is good music, f**k the labels.
