Beck

What Beck is doing is pretty genius.  His Record Club assembles a team of musicians, who gather to re-record a classic album. The emphasis is on the experience, and the new music rather than on perfecting recreating each song. As Beck says on the website, “There is no intention to ‘add to’ the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens.” 

There would be something missing if we were to continue Closed Sessions and not celebrate some like-minded work being done by other outlets and musicians such as Beck. The Record Club’s most recent session included Sergio Dias, Liars, and St. Vincent and featured a revisiting of INXS’, Kick.  As they start to release those tracks, we turn our attention to “Books of Moses”, which was posted earlier this month following the Skip Spence session.   This song is very fresh.  See the video and get the song below.
