If this screams the sounds of the mid-90’s, that’s because that is probably when it was created. It was a different time, and the sounds of D.I.T.C. ruled the streets, record stores, and even The Box (“yeah The Box, the thing that made us famous”). “Unexpected Flava” is a time travel back to Hip Hop’s golden era, with Large Professor and Big L serving as tour guides… it’s just not that unexpected.
