Brother Ali

Brother Ali will release his new album, Us, on September 22nd.  The album is somewhat thematic, as Brother Ali’s new music concentrates on the human element.  The album’s first single and title track offer a glimpse into the material, as Ali delivers a soulful song summed up by “I started rapping so they would notice me at the party, I found out that I already was,  can’t nobody be free until we’re all free, there’s no you, there’s no me, just us.”

More info on the album, as well the mp3 and tease for “Us” are below. Read our interview with Brother Ali here.

“A profound personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see. As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant, whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali’s strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.”
