Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs put out three collections for Resort 2010: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, and the oh-so-amazing Louis Vuitton.  Marc by Marc Jacobs, always for the younger consumer, was a nice medley of stripes with hints of leopard and metallics.  An entire slew of separates with ikat and floral prints adorned the knit and silk chiffon fabrics.  The shapes kept it retro as the entire collection drew inspiration from the 80s flick, Footloose

Marc Jacobs, the more mature line from Jacobs, had a bit of Carmen Miranda thrown in with Hollywood glamour and Parisian chic.  The entire collection was extremely bright and upbeat suited for a day at the beach or brunch in the city.  The garments were easily transitioned from day to night and were displayed with high wooden platforms, cropped jackets, and handbags with touches of semiprecious stones for one tour de force of a wardrobe.

Now for the crème de la crème of Jacobs’ collections, the Louis Vuitton cruise wear 2010.  Louis Vuitton hardly ever fails to live up to expectations (or has never failed) by bringing us endless style and collaborations that always turn out highly coveted collector’s pieces.  Jacobs’ theme of the exaggerated shape carried through all three of the shows that he did.  The collections all offered a young look, and the Vuitton show was very graphic with polka-dots, camouflage, and stripes juxtaposed with sequins and glimmering accents.  All of the pieces had a streetwear vibe that Jacobs translated so well into high fashion.  I want everything!
