Dana Carvey returned to Saturday Night Live, hosting the show on February 5th. Carvey was a cast member from 1986-1993, a time period which also featured cast members Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Kevin Nealon, Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, Jon Lovitz, Chris Rock and others. Just as the late eighties and early 90’s was the time period for Hip Hop’s Golden Era, many hold Carvey’s class as the best ensemble of the long running weekly sketch comedy show. Carvey explicitly argued such in his musical opening monologue and then continued to boost his claim throughout the show by pulling off great sketches with his classic characters such as The Church Lady, and a reunion with Mike Myers in a hilarious Wayne’s World opening scene. The episode also featured Justin Beiber, and was the scored the second highest ratings this season for SNL. Check it out below.
