The WHOevers are a duo that I’ve really come to enjoy over the past year. I think above all else, their music is just really soulful and heartfelt. You can hear through each record how much they love the music and culture of Hip Hop. They keep it funky, and stay true to themselves whereever it may lead. For emcee Dotkom, it is leading him to a solo project by the name Words of Wisdom, an EP that will drop this summer. This morning he sent over the EP’s first record, “The Essence”, which features his bandmate, J. Arthur. “The Essence” sticks to its title, as Dotkom contemplates his past, present, and future moves, digging into the reasons for his actions. DJ Bari produced the record, and it is very smooth.
