Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as Tomorrowland.
This is the official synopsis for the mysterious Disney film, Tomorrowland. Up until this morning, the film has been shrouded in enigmatic clouds, with nothing outside of cast and crew announced and a mysterious reference to a long-forgotten box labeled “1952” found in underground passageways at Walt Disney Studio. The contents of the “1952” box revealed old photos of Walt Disney, various blueprints, maps, and concept art for Disney World attractions, comics, and other memorabilia. However, what helped inspire Bird and Lindelof was the common theme amongst the items that focused on future technology, space, and overall imagination.
Director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) is co-writing the film with Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus). Starring are George Clooney as the “former boy-genius inventor” and Britt Robertson (Under the Dome) as the “bright, optimistic teen”; the cast also includes Hugh Laurie (House), Raffey Cassidy (Snow White and the Huntsman), and Thomas Robinson (Heroes).
Tomorrowland just recently went into production and is targeting a December 12, 2014 release date.
