Statik Gibbs

As noted in our Local Sounds article, Freddie Gibbs recorded a new EP with Statik Selektah this week.  Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away was recorded in 24 hours, and also features the cut “Rap Money” with Daz Dillinger with production from Statik.  While it’s on the EP, it’s a record that was not recorded on site, and was originally slated for Freddie’s Cold Day In Hell project.   Interesting fact, Daz has relatives from Gary, Indiana, Gibbs’ hometown, which is partly how the two linked up.  The record’s theme is something many can relate to, and the search for legal money coming from Hip Hop.  If Gibbs continues at his current pace, he’ll be seeing a lot more of that in the years to come.  Download it below via Nahright and purchase the EP here.
