RH Fresh Friday 10/19

Over the last few years as streaming has become more and more important Fridays have turned in to the most critical day of the week for new releases. Today is a prime example of the power of Friday. With releases from Jean Deaux, Phony Ppl, Action Bronson, Juice WRLD and Future, and more it can be overwhelming. In this article we’ll highlight the best tracks from each album and let you know where you can go hear them. Here’s this weeks installation of Fresh Friday

Jean Deaux – Krash

Jean Deaux has released her debut album Krash today. The album showcases Jean Deaux’s skills as a lyricist and her innate capability to find the perfect melody with features from Ravyn Lenae, Bari, dreathevibedealer and Kari Faux. Krash is Jean Deaux’s official introduction to the world and it’s her time to step in to the spotlight.

Featured Track: “Way Out” – A low simmer of a track showing the stress of living around violence. Saba lent his skills in the production that really elevates the song.

Phony Ppl – MŌ’ZĀ-IK

Brooklyn based, genre benders Phony Ppl have been releasing singles over the last month in anticipation of their second album MŌ’ZĀ-IK which came out today. It is a sonic adventure, oscillating between Neo-Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop while remaining psychedelic to the core, they have pushed their sound to a new level.

Featured Track: “Way Too Far” – The lead single off of the album. It has been on heavy rotation since it was released.

DJ Muggs & Roc Marciano – Kaos

Roc Marciano is doing his best to keep New York old school rap in the forefront. For his third studio album Marciano tapped DJ Muggs to lay down some classic beats for him to hop on. It’s a great example of why the New York sound will never go away, this album could have just as easily been released in 2008 or 1998.

Featured Track: “Caught A Lick” – This gritty track is the closest thing to a modern flow on the album.

Lil’ Yachty – Nuthin’ 2 Prove

The king of teens turned 20 this year but Nuthin’ 2 Prove shows that his reign isn’t ending anytime soon. The album is full of features from Playboi Carti, Juice WRLD, Lil Baby, Young Nudy, Cardi B & Offset (on the same track!), Trippie Redd and more Nuthin’ 2 Prove lives up to its name.

Featured Track: “Who Want The Smoke (feat. Cardi B & Offset)” – Minimal trap beats continue to be the flavor of the season, in fact the spooky production on this track makes it a perfect Halloween jam.

Future & Juice WRLD – WRLD ON DRUGS

This album had a lot of potential, but it didn’t really live up to it. Not that it’s all bad, but the songs that hold it down are surrounded by lethargic tracks that hope to pop off of the clout around both of the rappers names. That being said, the good ones do go hard. The album starts with “Jet Lag (feat. Young Scooter)” and it’s a bop.

Featured Track: “Ain’t Livin Right (Feat. Gunna)” – A mellow track with a melodic approach on the vocals addressing vices.

deM atlaS – Bad Actress

Rhymesayers member deM atlaS has been grinding all of 2018. With a couple of EPs and a ton of features under his belt already it’s no small feat to also put out a full length album. Bad Actress is a prime example of what to expect from a Rhymesayers signee, bluesy at times, personal and perceptive the record is an intimate look at the world through deM atlaS’s eyes.

Featured Track: “Bad Loves Company” – This could be the thesis for the album. You can hear the devil and an angel fighting across the Minnesota rapper’s shoulders.

That’s it for the new album releases but there are also a ton of notable single drops today.

Valee – “Awesome (feat. Matt Ox)

Asian Doll – “1017 (feat. Gucci Mane & Yung Mal)”

Action Bronson – “Prince Charming”

Travis Scott – “DrIp DrIp Drip (feat. Meek Mill)

SAINt JHN – “McDonalds Rich”

Daniel Caesar – “Who Hurt You?”
