Fresh Paint, NYC is a new effort compiled by Billy Schon documenting a decade’s worth of graffiti by some of New York City’s most prolific tagging crews. The book is 400 pages of photos taken of the busses, walls, and trains tagged by the crews which include “X-Men, KD, TNB, 156, RIS, AOK, TC-5, FAME CITY, COD, XTC, TFP, MCI, IF, DYM, 718, TD4, SMART, TATS CRU, FLY-ID, GFR, AKB, and many more”. Schon’s book immortalizes the pieces that have since been removed, covered, or destroyed in New York’s efforts to eliminate graffiti from the city, making this book an integral addition to graffiti history. Unfazed by the efforts of the city, the tagging crews have created faster, smarter methods to their work to stay ahead of the curve.
