Gil Scott-Heron swaps Mos Def for Nas on this new version of “New York Is Killing Me” sent over to us from our homie Jesse Lee of dubFrequency.  I guess it shows the killing powers of New York City, as two of Hip Hop’s and emcees and NYC representers both do the city dirty on this track.  It also speaks to the pull of Gil Scott-Heron, who touched a lot of people.   Can we get a Chicago version?  I’ll start.

Early summer’s hard in the city of wind, we got two baseball teams and still can’t win/parking meters, gas prices, and taxes got pockets looking thin/ and the city’s surge of violence got a kid’s future looking grim…
