Sesame Street

It’s safe to say that without “Sesame Street” I wouldn’t be the person I am today.  The television show that celebrates it’s 40th birthday today is right there with “G.I. Joe” and “Welcome Back Kotter” as my earliest and fondest TV memories.  The show taught me to read and count, as well as appreciate differences, share properly, and tell the truth through their creative sketches, and songs.  I thought for a long time about the best way to post about Sesame Street’s 40th Birthday.  I contemplated posting songs from the show, or writing about their musical guests, or breaking down their life lessons etc… And, maybe I’ll finally settle on one and post up a feature article later in the week.  But, for now, I just want to say thanks to all the creators, cast members, stage hands, and everyone who worked hard to make Jim Henson’s Sesame Street a staple of American culture.  I can emphatically say that the world is a better place because of all your efforts.  Happy 40th, Sesame Street.  I hope you have 40 more and that my children can one day learn to count with The Count, learn to share with Cookie Monster, and learn to agree to disagree with Bert and Ernie…and Grover, and Big Bird, and….
