For this week’s edition of “How About Some Old S*#t”, I’m going to take it back to the summer of 2009, and the earliest days of Closed Sessions.  Looking at this makes me cringe at times, considering how much better our videos and Closed Sessions have gotten since these days.  It’s almost impossible to compare something from Closed Sessions Vol. 1 to something from Closed Sessions Vol. 2 from the visual standpoint.  However, comparing the two project sonically is another story.  I still listen to that album and enjoy records like “Rapper Weed”, “Posted”, “Dutch Dalton”, and of course, “Fresh Academy”, which features Kidz In The Hall, King Chip (formerly Chip Tha Ripper), Mikkey Halsted, and Donnis.  That’s quite a pairing, and is especially dope considering where Chip has come since that session. I feel like he’s on the verge of blowing up and can’t wait to hear the next project he cooks up with Kid Cudi getting more involved.

Meanwhile, Mikkey Halsted dropped what has to be one of the album’s of the year in Castro.  Double O is now Mic The Drums, Donnis is on Fool’s Gold, and Naledge will release Chicago Picasso 2 next week.  So, while it’s kind of tough to watch just because of how raw the footage is, it’s also great to look back at the creation of a dope record as well as time in history.  Peep the in-studio clip, and download the record below.
