RH Radio

Now that we’ve got a nice new player, we’re going to use it! We’re going to use it to highlight some of our favorite music, and go more in-depth with the tunes that are on the RH pages, in our iTunes collections, and in our heads. This week DJ RTC took over the player, programming it with some of his new favorite tunes. Check out the songs he picked and find out why below. And listen to all these joints in the new RH Player in the top right hand corner of the site.

GLC, Freddie Gibbs, and Michael Kolar

Freddie Gibbs: “Ghetto”
Why I Like It: Gary, Indiana’s golden child tells of his upbringing, and channels the best of the afrocentric and Native Tongues movement while keeping it straight gangster. “Ghetto” shows Gibbs’ full range, and proves that gangsters aren’t all dummies.

Spoon

Spoon: “The Mystery Zone”
Why I Like It: “The Mystery Zone” sounds exactly how it should. Take a trip and check it out.

Bobby Ray

B.o.B.: “F**k The Money” featuring Asher Roth
Why I Like It: Word has it that The Clipse passed on this Kanye West beat. Just goes to show that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure..

Esso

Esso: “New York, New York”
Why I Like It: Esso is a budding emcee we got to link up with in Austin, here he takes it back to his hometown of NYC.

Kidz In The Hall

Kidz In The Hall: “Take Over The World”
Why I Like It: I knew this song was the one the first time I heard it with Double O on the hook. He was just holding space for Colin Munroe who does his thing and perfectly compliments Naledge. This is inspiration in the form of music.

Broken Bells

Broken Bells: “The Ghost Inside”
Why I Like It: This is the second Broken Bell’s joint to be featured in the player, and for good reason. “The Ghost Inside” rocks.

Fashawn

Fashawn: “Life’s A B**ch” featuring Talib Kweli
Why I Like It: The XXL Freshmen Class member has been on my short list of top emcees for a minute, and he continues to shine on “Life’s A B**ch” featuring Talib Kweli. Kweli focuses on religion in his verse, while Fashawn talks about turning 20 and thus turning over a new leaf.

Dekk

Drake: “Over” Dekk Remix
Why I Like It: This is the best remix of “Over” that I’ve heard thus far, so let’s give it a little bit more shine.

Sebastian Tellier

Sebastien Tellier “Kilometer”
Why I Like It: This isn’t a new joint, but I’m really digging it right now. Tellier is a beast.

Rhymefest

Rhymefest: “Familiar Faces”
Why I Like It: I had to include “Familiar Faces” in this update. It’s possibly my favorite off the Dangerous Mixtape that I just completed with Rhymefest, and says many things we’re all thinking.

Phil G.

Phil G: “Good Love” featuring Chastity Chantell
Why I Like It: Can we show a little love to a G? Phil G. drops some brand new flavor for your ear, a perfect spring time jam.
