Kidz In The Hall

Kidz In The Hall: “Traffic”

[audio: |width=180]

Kidz In The Hall’s new album is one that gets better every time I listen to it. “Traffic” may just be the best on the album, and certainly one of my favorite tracks of 2010. Cold Hard sets the tone, and Naledge carries it out.

Little Brother Getback

Little Brother: “Tigallo For Dolo”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/tigallo_dolo.mp3|width=180]

I have every Little Brother album, and am always excited when that package comes in the mail. Sadly, Leftback is the crews final LP together, but they do go out triumphantly with another dope (yet tragically slept on) album. “Tigallo For Doo” is a Phonte solo track and some of the best analysis of growing in the music biz that I’ve heard. “21 years old I used to slang verses, now ten years later I am not the same person…”

Yelawolf

Yelawolf: “I Wish”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/yelawolf_i_wish.mp3|width=180]

Big credit to the guy on Yelawolf’s team that made this collaboration happen. Yelawolf’s at his best on “I Wish” lyrically showing up for the big game. I’m really curious as to who recorded their verse first on this track, and thus made the other dude step up. A great song, and it’s pretty hard to argue with YW when he’s got the Wu behind him.

Tegan and sara

Tegan and Sara: “Alligator” 88 Keys Remix

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/alligator_remix.mp3|width=180]

The Schwerve put me on the Tegan and Sara after he deemed their track “Back In Your Head” one 2007’s best. Earlier this month, 88 Keys released a demoed version of his “Alligator” remix and the education continues.

A-Trak

A-Trak: “Trizzy Turnt Up”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/atrak_turnt_up_remix.mp3|width=180]

A-Trak is going to release Dirty South Dance 2 very soon, with cover art by Shepard Fairey. “Trizzy Turnt Up” is a great leadoff, and I’m sure will see it’s more than fair share of spins.

Find your Love

Drake: “Find Your Love”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/drake_find_your_love_prod_by_kanye_west.mp3|width=180]

Remember when Drake said he made a mistake by singing on So Far Gone? I guess he’s cool with it now, as “Find Your Love”, the latest leak off his full-length debut is nothing but. The song is produced by Kanye West.

Eminem Recovery

Eminem: “Not Afraid”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/eminem_not_afraidmp3.mp3|width=180]

A few weeks back Eminem said he was scrapping Relapse 2 and taking the music in a new direction. That direction is an LP named Recovery, and “Not Afraid” is certainly a left turn from the material we heard on Relapse. Em ditches the “Himynamerealslimwithoutme” type of single in favor of a more sincere and earnest effort.

CurT@!n$

CurT@!n$: “Letter To The People”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/letter_to_the_people_pt_1.mp3|width=180]

CurT@!n$ is a really dope rapper. I’m not sure enough people realize that yet, but for those who do, DopeBoyC has penned this letter.

Wrekonize

Wrekonize: “One Too Many”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/one_too_many.mp3|width=180]

Yes. It is that Wrekonize, the emcee from Florida who won an MTV/Roc-A-Fella battle. If you’re wondering what happened since, he’s been making moves as part of ¡MayDay!, as well as dolo through quality songs such as this one.

Pac Div

Pac Div: “Shine”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/pac_div_shine.mp3|width=180]

The best group without an album release date, Pac Div go the mixtape route in servicing their fans with new material. Their first release since Church League Champions is entitled Don’t Mention It, and was released seemingly out of nowhere shortly after “Shine” was leaked.

B.o.B.

B.o.B.: “Past My Shades” featuring Lupe Fiasco

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/past_my_shades.mp3|width=180]

Do you think B.o.B. is going to be a big star? We’re kind of thinking the same thing as well, plus he’s getting a major mentoring by Lupe Fiasco right now. “Past My Shades” is the collaboration that has everyone at Atlantic smiling right now.

Reflection Eternal

Reflection Eternal: “Inner City Playgrounds”

[audio: http://rubyhornet.com/media/rh/music/reflection_eternal_city_playgrounds.mp3|width=180]

Reflection Eternal’s new LP is a gem. It’ll be interesting to see if the fans that demanded it for the last decade are still gonna be around to pick it up, and will a new audience of Hip Hop heads do their homework.
