Last night I was invited to CRC to check out some new music from Sir Michael Rocks and a new solo mixtape he is working on. While I can’t divulge too many of the details about the mixtape, I can say that Mikey has a lot of good music on his hands that will appeal to diehard Cool Kids fans, as well as those that may have caught on after Rocks dropped Premier Politics or signed to Jetlife. A lot of the songs have a bigger sound, and show maturity as far as song-making and just a continued increase in his comfort level musically. He is trying some new things here, and I enjoyed a lot of what I heard. His camp will be announcing details very soon on the new project, which we could see some time this summer. I can also say that the mixtape features Tris J, and may also feature Mac Miller, as Mac told us back in November that he was in the lab with Mikey Rocks during the Chicago stop of his tour. More details coming soon.
