Established in March of 2008, Ruby Hornet is a multimedia online destination that serves to passionately and skillfully celebrate and contribute to the full spectrum of urban culture. Ruby Hornet does so by featuring in-depth interviews, music reviews, web-based TV, exclusive live DJ mixes, and daily blog postings.

The Staff:
Alexander Fruchter// DJ Roosevelt Treasurechest: Managing Editor
Alexander Fruchter is a writer, DJ, and educator. Prior to joining RubyHornet.com, Fruchter was a co-founder and managing editor of the popular online magazine, SoundSlam.com. He has become known for his informative and entertaining interviews, as well as the care which he uses when covering Hip Hop music and culture. He is a part of the Hip Hop Journalism Association's Organizing Committee, the National Board of The Hip Hop Congress, and a Teach For America Alumni. His original curriculum "You Can Quote Me On That!" was published in 2007 as part of the H2ED Hip Hop Education Guidebook. He currently serves as the official DJ of PHLI Worldwide, and was previously the Director of Artist and Media Relations for Bandit Productions. His mxtape series, "A Poor Craftsman Always Blames His Tools" has included collaborations with Naledge of Kidz In The Hall, DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples, and Russell Simmons. He has been featured in Sixshot.com, HHNLive.com, Fakeshoredrive.com, and URB.com.

Virgil Solis// Benny Rocs: General Manager
Virgil Solis, aka Benny Rocs is an experienced photographer and fashion connoisseur. He fuses his love of photography, fashion, and music in his work at Ruby Hornet. Responsible for the overall look and feel of the site, Solis oversees RH’s sleek design that presents users with a wealth of information in an easy to find format. Prior to joining RubyHornet, Solis worked at one of Chicago’s premier recording studios, where he gained valuable insight into the music industry. Solis is constantly searching for innovative ways to push RubyHornet forward.
