ATUM is the new instrumental EP from Chicago’s Na$im Williams. Williams is one of the city’s youngest rising producers, and ATUM serves as a formal introduction. Named after one of Egyptian Mythology’s most ancient and important Gods, ATUM showcases Williams’ skill, range, as well as his connectedness to the music. The EP is full of interpolations in which Williams uses something familiar to make something new. He shines on “Vernal”, re-imagining fun.’s “We Are Young”, then merges show-tunes with boom bap on “Theatrical Chant”.
