The last time we saw Mr. MFN eXquire, he was on a marathon run of shows during SXSW in Austin, Texas. He played our Digital Freshness showcase, Fader Fort, and a slew of other shows which all coincided with a big announcement that he inked a deal with Universal Records. While his name buzzed throughout the long-weekend, eXquire has been relatively quiet since. His only releases have been collaborations, and currently he is on tour with El-P and Killer Mike.
“Yeah, I chilled,” eXquire tells us about the lack of new solo material during the tour’s recent stop in Chicago, IL. “But when n***as see the record I do by myself, my next song… gonna be som sh*t.” Coming up next for eXquire will be his Power & Passion EP, which will be dropping in September. And eXquire says he also has a new mixtape on the way as well.
We caught up with eXquire following his set last week in Chicago. Here he talks about his new music, working with Goldie Glo, New York City and more.
