Here is some new “old” J. Cole. The record, “Lost Ones” was recorded a few years ago, with a video in the can as well. The song focuses in on an unplanned pregnancy, with J. Cole taking the perspective of both the man and the woman in respective verses. It’s wonderfully done, and a thoughtful tune that again displays J. Cole’s depth, and substance. He’s one of my favorite up and coming emcees, and along with Kendrick Lamar is taking the torch of several Hip Hop artists that have come before him to blend substance, poetry, lyricism, and a mainstream appeal. I hope J. Cole wins for the music and the culture.
