I think J. Cole is a dope working-man’s emcee (and producer). While he does have the major label, and the bells and whistles that one brings, his best work comes from a hungry and gritty place, where J is able to connect with listeners about everyday issues. While the radio hits grow his name, its songs like this new cut, “Miss America”, where he shines best. This record is off J’s forthcoming Born Sinner, and it’s pretty dope. At least I think so.
