Jay Electronica

Jay Electronica provided fans with one of the most memorable performances at the inaugural North Coast Fest in Chicago, IL this summer.  Jay performed his signature songs such as “Exhibit A” and “Dear Moleskine”.  He also paid tribute to Nas’ “The World Is Yours”, and invited fans onstage during “Great Googly Eyes”, even getting between his fans and festival security, who just wanted the fan participation segment to be over.  On top of that, Jay Electronica entertained the crowd between songs, speaking on his time living in Chicago, New Orleans, and an ongoing bet he has with Nas concerning roughness levels during sex, and specifically, if women ever enjoy being choked.  While it’s apparent to most in the audience that it’s all in fun, and said to inject humor into the set, Jay took sometime to address those that have issues with this part of his set.

“Out of ALL of the s**t I say at EVERY show, some would like to take the joke segment and make some s**t out of it.  You lame for that one,” he said via his Twitter page.  Jay also questioned the relevancy of his joke, while it is said alongside comments that allege US soldiers blew out the levees during Katrina.  Jay ended his succession of Tweets saying, “Here’s my official statement concerning the women/choking joke during my show,” before linking to this article about Hurricane Katrina.

In other Jay Electronica and Twitter news, he decided to send off a new track following the mini-rant.  For today’s leak, Jay released “Jazzmatazz” featuring Tone Treasure.  The song is a tribute to Guru, and named after his Gang Starr side project.
