When Jay Reatard made the video for the first single, “It Ain’t Gonna Save Me”, off his forthcoming album I believe he was somehow looking directly into my dreams. Clowns, Birthday Parties, Top Hats, angry children; its my Freudian nightmare played out in real-time. I don’t know what it says about Mr. Reatard, nor do I want to know what it says about myself, but if you the need, its okay to cry. At least the soundtrack is better than my dreams; I’m usually stuck with a backing track of Toto.
