The Black KEys

There’s a damn good reason for those pledge drives!  NPR, otherwise known as National Public Radio is home to quite possibly the best programming radio has to offer.  91.5 (if you’re in the Chicagoland area) is a pre-set on my car radio that I admittedly don’t take advantage of nearly enough.  It was during one such time that I did hit preset 3 this week and learned that the Black Keys’ new LP, Brothers, is streaming in its entirely via NPR’s website.  The Black Keys 6th studio album can be heard in its entirety right now until it’s 5/18/10 release date.  Roll something up, take an hour out of your day and turn your speakers all the way up.

Listen to the LP here.

Now for the “other cool s**t” part of this post…

NPR also has a cool new feature called “song of the day” in which discusses popular music and the “cultural phenomenon surrounding it.”  In each story, Maura Johnston and Jay Smooth (of Illdoctrine.compick a song and talk about its meaning in cultural context, beyond music.  Today they tackle Usher’s “Painting By Numbers”, which you can see right here.  Support public radio!
