I ran into Lupe Fiasco earlier this summer during the Soundset Festival. When I asked him how he was doing his reply was something like a non-verbal “so-so.” This was right after Pete Rock spazzed out about Lupe’s “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” and the peanut gallery was in full force. I bet if I asked Lupe the same question today, he’d have a much better answer. In the last week Lupe dropped the new single, “Bitch Bad” to a lot of praise as well as the very fresh video for “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”. I think over the last week he’s really bounced back and got a lot of people excited for Food & Liquor 2, myself included.
Lupe has announced that we will soon see an official third single off F&L2 Part 1 in the form of the previously released “Go To Sleep”. “This was supposed to be on F&L2…long story…ill tell ya later…Enjoy!” Lupe tweeted, followed by a link to the song on youtube. “May have to shoot a video to this…” he added. Check out “Go To Sleep” below to refresh your memory, hopefully we’ll see a video for that one.
