Mateo first showed up in our iTunes when he was featured on a track by Emilio Rojas. Today he hits our inbox via Quddus, who makes his own directorial debut with this video for “Empire State of Mind Part III” off Mateo’s latest mixtape. The video and the song take a different than Jay-Z’s version where Jay warns of the pitfalls of NYC while Hype Williams celebrates its landmarks. Mateo paints himself as the person who was lured in by the bright lights, and the city where dreams are made off, while Quddus’ video focuses on the people of NYC rather than its statues and buildings. Good work all around, and if I was from NYC I bet I would like it that much more. Enjoy below.
