DJ Moondawg sent over this new mixtape from Chicago upstart and buzzing phenom, Chief Keef. Keef burst onto the blogosphere backed by thousands and thousands youtube views without any major promotion or assistance. He’s not old enough to vote, and he just got off house arrest. That makes Keef’s arrival and surging fame very interesting and even more unique. His music is loud, aggressive, and a lot of it doesn’t make sense. At least to me. I was talking about Keef on Sunday with DJ Moondawg and David Drake of SoManyShrimp. Moondawg compared Keef to a teenage Waka Flocka, with Drake saying the biggest thing in Keef’s way of musical success is really himself and good decision making.
