Dikembe Caston didn’t take long to come into his own. At the young age of 17, this Chi-town emcee is starting to show why you should pay attention to him. He’s got a confident, relaxed flow that feeds listeners witty rhymes that possess a fluidity that a lot of rappers don’t have even after years of practice. Most of the beats on this tape are not too complex and that is by no means a bad thing. There is beauty in simplicity and Kembe uses these beats as his canvas as he paints tracks about experiences in his life, some of which listeners will likely relate to.
I was fortunate enough to find Kembe’s material in my inbox and I was surprised at how little press he had received up to this point. I’ve been sitting on this mixtape for a while now and I’ve been waiting for the day I get to let you hear all of it. Make the jump to view the full track listing and grab Self Rule.
