It’s dope when established and really rich rappers do a mixtape of grimer shit with a nod towards their earlier and hungrier days. It’s arguable if it’s ever possible to rap like you did when you were broke when you’re filthy. Ludacris takes his turn with it though on 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time. Luda’s early work was dope. That Madden song, hot fire! For real though, not enough people play “Southern Hospitality” in the clubs. I’m bringing that one back.
