I’m just going to say it outright, Mike Posner confuses me. I was a fan of his older material which includes a decent portion of the tracks on One Foot Out the Door and A Matter of Time but his album, 31 Minutes To Takeoff, was just plain awful. It seemed like Posner or his label, RCA, wanted to make a push to get radio play which created what I’d like to think was a forced sound. Despite this, Mike has said that he’s getting back to roots with this mixtape and from what I’ve heard so far, this statement holds true. He’s brought back the sing/rap mix that was present on his mixtapes but missing on his album and it’s apparent that he has pretty decent taste in music. Features on The Layover include, but are not limited to, Cyhi, Casey Veggies, Slim Thug, Big K.R.I.T., and Twista. Hit the jump for the download.
