Michael Jackson

With the tragedy of losing a legend donned as the “King of Pop,” it is only right that we honor not only his musical contributions, but what he has contributed to the fashion world as well.  He has assured us that losing a glove is not so bad and even impacted Balmain’s runway with their Michael-inspired jacket favored by none other than it-girl RiRi!  Known for extravagant costumes and setting the trends in the 80s and the 90s, Jackson’s last tour called “This is It” was set to have costumes specially made for him by Swarovski Elements.  The ensembles would have had more than 300,000 crystals in 43 sizes and 27 different colors.  With that being said, let’s take a look at some of his most memorable and innovative looks.

*Editor’s Note: I think it’s interesting how MJ is being remembered today, being that over the last 15 or so years he’s been outcasted by much of America.  He totally changed everything about his appearance, and was on trial for pedophilia.  It’s good that his music is the focus and contribution is the focus and at the forefront of the memorials.  That dichotomy was addressed by Nelson George in this article, well worth a read.
