Gordon Beckham

The White Sox had a disappointing season, one that saw them capture first place in the A.L. Central on the heels of Mark Buehrle’s perfect game July 23rd only to collapse the last two months of the season to finish in third place.  While they retool for next season, in need of speed, defense, and pitching, they have one position fully stocked: third base.  The hot corner is home to Gordon Beckham who was named the A.L. Rookie of The Year by the Sporting News.  Beckham was called up midway thru the first half of the season after a Josh Fields failed to start strong.  Beckham was the leader in RBIs, doubles, extra-base hits, among American League rookies.  He took second place in home runs, slugging percentage, runs scored, total bases, and hits.  Congrats Beckham, Robin Ventura would be proud.
