Dom Pérignon Tribute to Andy Warhol

Dom Pérignon x Andy Warhol

Here's a special collaboration project between premium champagne purveyor Dom Pérignon and iconic American artist Andy Warhol. The project will feature special-edition colored bottles in Warhol's standard red, blue, and yellow all slightly blown out. Not to be outdone, the packaging features more of Warhol's touch along with some text and his signature. The project was captained by the Design Laboratory at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design. The collection will drop at select fine wine shops on October 15. Take a closer look at the project along with a video from Dom Pérignon about the collaboration.

I Am An Artist of The People: Kweli Speaks on Gucci Collab

A few weeks ago a song leaked featuring Talib Kweli and Gucci Mane.  The song is called "Poltergeist", and I posted it within minutes right here. In the post I remarked, " And worlds have officially collided and a million backpackers have no idea what to do with themselves."  I think the song is pretty cool, and at this point in my life, am happy to see Kweli continuing to make music cause he is one of my favorite emcees... ever.  He's also a cool dude, and has always treated me and RH with respect and humility.  Being a fan of Hip Hop, a DJ, and yes, a recovering Hip Hop snob, I knew that not everyone would be as happy to see him perform with Gucci simply because for people that really really hate Gucci's music and how they feel it "hurts Hip Hop" Kweli is their soundtrack.  Mychal Smith wrote an article entitled The Demise of The Conscious Rapper following Kweli x Gucci, using this situation to again point out the end of the conscious-era of Hip Hop, and simultaneously say that Kweli, " is throwing dirt on top of the grave. He wants to serve everyone, it seems, releasing songs to dispute the Arizona immigration law along with the aforementioned Gucci Mane collaboration. I understand not wanting to be singularly defined, but when you try to be everything to everyone you end up being nothing to no one."

The Black Keys: "Too Afraid To Love You" Studio Video

The Black Keys

Excuse the late pass on this, but this is too dope to not post.  The new Black Keys album is still on heavy rotation, and I just came across this studio footage of the duo recording "Too Afraid To Love You".  This was shot at Shoals, a legendary studio in Alabama where the Keys recorded most of their latest LP, Brothers.  Check out the video below.  The Black Keys will again be at this year's Lollapalooza, with a Friday night set kicking off around 7 PM.

Menomena: "Taos"

Menomena

Menomena is the heir to Morphine's considerable legacy.  Maybe its the prevalence of woodwinds with both bands, but the two seem at times to be cut from the same cloth.  Menomena skews more in the 21st century electronic aesthetic than Morphine's early 90's mournful indie rock.  Either way Menomena has created another great album with the upcoming release of Mines.  Taos is a great example of what you get throughout the album, a five minute romp moving flipping tempos on a dime and inserting a multitude of interesting musical elements.  ??You can pick up Mines via Barsuk Records. Check out the track below.
