Freddie Gibbs: "National Anthem (F**k The World)"

Freddie Gibbs

Nice. Decon lets go of the clean version of Freddie Gibbs' new joint, "National Anthem (F**k The World)". Gibbs will be releasing two project within the next 6 weeks, as XXL will be dropping a new mixtape (Str8 Killa No Filla) on July 29th. A few days later on August 3rd Decon will release the EP Str8 Killa, which will be 8 songs and available for purchase. Donnis recently announced something similar with the Fashionably Late EP/Mixtape, but we have yet to see the Atlantic Records EP come to fruition.

Getting back to Gibbs, "National Anthem" follows in the same vein as Gibbs' last release, "The Ghetto". In both songs, Gibbs places himself and his rap career in the context of the physical and social environment that pushed him towards music, while narrowly escaping the lure of the streets. Gibbs' commentary fills a necessary void in Hip Hop today, and it's his simultaneous multi-tasking of saying "f**k the system", explaining why it is f**ked up, and then offering some sort of methods out that makes Gibbs a rising star. Plus, the dude can rap.

Lastly, we're also very proud to announce that Gibbs will be hosting our next Digital Freshness event on July 15th. Details will follow, but there's an early warning for you... Track after the jump.

A Slew of Pharrell Songs...

Pharrell

A bunch of Pharrell songs from Despicable Me hit the web today. Is that despicable? Pharrell and Pixar may think so. I think it's cool to hear new music from Pharrell. So, as Wayne would say, "party on" after the jump with "Prettiest Girls", "Fun, Fun, Fun", "Minion Mambo" (featuring Lupe Fiasco), "Rocket's Theme", and "My Life" (Robin Thicke, prod. by Pharrell).
