Peter Bjorn and John

Peter Bjorn and John recently released their latest album, Gimme Some.  The band’s history as an underdog, and one that toiled many years before making money is well known.  The success they’ve experience since their break out hit, “Young Folks” from their 2006 LP Writer’s Block and their critically acclaimed follow-up, Living Thing, has made Gimme Some their most high profile album to date.  One may have expected PBJ to pull all out the stops, but instead they stripped things down, and created an album that served as, according to Peter, “a return to our early roots — even the stuff before Writer’s Block…  How we sounded in the early days when people didn’t know us. For this record we wanted to capture what we do on stage. So it’s based on guitar, bass and drums and a live feel. Sure, it’s poppier, but it’s also rockier. It’s pop ‘n’ roll.”

After completing the album, Peter Bjorn and John played some very intimate and semi-secret shows, including one at a house party.  The goal was to try out the new material, and give fans a unique experience.  Filmmakers amie Margolin and Dezi Catarino followed PBJ around and the result is this documentary.  The film set out to document the shows, but instead show the spirit of Peter Bjorn and John, and how their new album is a further reflection of that spirit.
