Pitchfork Festival 2011 kicked off yesterday at Chicago’s Union Park. This is the 6th edition of Pitchfork, and perhaps their biggest one to date. Friday we caught sets from tUnE-yArDs, Curren$y, Das Racist, Thurston Moore, James Blake, Neako Case, and Animal Collective. It was nice first day as the weather was warm, and everyone showed up on time. Check out pics from Virgil Solis after the jump.
Pitchfork hired artist Ray Noland to create these statues throughout the park of various famous people.

Curren$y rocked the Blue Stage, and had thousands of kids throwing up the Jet$.
Thurston Moore lived up to the hype at the Red Stage playing opposite Curren$y.
Das Racist hit the Blue Stage, kicking things off with their internet smash, “Who’s That? Brown…”
Neako Case played to a large crowd at the Red Stage.
James Blake mellowed things out after Das Racist at the Blue Stage.
Animal Collective ended the night with a dope set at the Green Stage.
