Q-Tip

Kanye West identified Q-Tip early and often as one of his influences and favorite artists.  Over the last two years, Q-Tip’s collaborations with Kanye have increased, and people have been talking for a while now that a move to West’s G.O.O.D. Music was imminent.  It became official today as Def Jam has announced a deal with Q-Tip that reunites him with Jive’s ex-headman, Barry Weiss, and places Tip on the G.O.O.D. Music roster.  They also announced that Q-Tip’s new album, The Last Zulu, will drop in 2013 via Def Jam/G.O.O.D.

I think this is a great move for all involved. I thought Q-Tip’s last album was pretty dope, and he can offer so much to G.O.O.D.’s roster, which is becoming more and more stacked by the day.  We can definitely expect his contribution on the forthcoming G.O.O.D. album, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts to pop up regularly on track lists.  I also heard that Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes have been working on a joint project, which they started in the fall. I was told this back in October, so I’m not sure where it stands right now.

Is this good for G.O.O.D. Music? Let us know here or on Twitter.
