The Plague

Murph Watkins is one of my favorite emcees coming out of Chicago right now.  Since I heard him last year around this time, I’ve become a big fan.  Murph has a unique voice, and great skill on the mic, he is also unafraid to speak on real subjects and create songs that tackle tough issues.  Today he is releasing The Plague, a new EP that is produced entirely by The Antydote, a producer from Indianapolis.

The EP didn’t start out as such, it just evolved.  Murph created the project in a month’s time as a reaction the violence and corruption which he sees plaguing the city of Chicago, and beyond.  The title also relates to his own personal experiences and loss, which he details through a letter to the listener.  You can find that letter as well as the new 7-song EP on the next page.
