RH Re-Up

We at RH are proud to finally announce the rebirth of the Re-Up. Much has happened since the last update. Ridiculous finals, a bout of swine flu, and holidays with the family has kept me busier than ever and constantly on the go but it is a new year, hell its a new decade, and what better way to welcome 2010 than with a brand new Re-Up.  A column dedicated to bringing you the latest tracks, hottest trends, and must-read interviews with your favorite artists, the Re-Up is back and ready to satisfy all your culture cravings.

Kicking things off, Nike Sportwear dropped their newest iPhone app “The True City” which is now available for download via the iPhone app store. Combining Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps, and undeniable style, “The True City” goes beyond a guide book and creates a personalized look at what’s hot in your city. Based on user feedback and the ability to adapt to your interests, this app provides real time updates on news, locations, and all things hip going down in your town. See the Nike True City Trailer here.

Also going down this week, our Mos Def x DOOM contest is still in full effect. Launched last week, RH is offering up free tickets to the upcoming DOOM featuring Mos Def show January 29th at the Congress Theatre. Click here to check out some examples from our readers telling us why they deserve the tickets. Get creative, good luck! And finally on the fashion front, Opening Ceremony, one of the best in the game, and just revealed plans to join forces with denim kingpin Levi’s to create a new collection. Featuring men and women’s products, this one of a kind collabo is expected to hit stores next month. Check out the full article for more details here.

On the flipside, we got more fresh new interviews and updates here…

Ill-Lit

*RH First Look: ILL-Literacy
The “multi-cultural” (and they’ll tell you all about what that means) crew, ILL-Literacy, is full of Bell Hooks quotes, a fresh approach to music and music making, and seems to be as comfortable reading Cornell West than listening to Kanye West.  It’s all forms of the same struggle, which serves to create different forms of the same expressions. We turn our First Look microscope on ILL-Literacy and dive into their Kool-Aid cover, their open-source music making, and much more.  Read it here.

Best of Chicago

*The Best of Chicago ‘09
To celebrate the year that was in music, fashion, and culture, we put together a survey to highlight the best of Chicago 2009.  We invited a wide variety of our friends, colleagues, and associates to tell us their favorite artists, release, DJs, clubs, clothing brands etc from ’09.  A Sample of our respondents include Naledge, Willy Joy, Million $ Mano, Suli, Anna Hovet, Krabby of Saint Alfred’s, Brian Nevado, Matt Boy White, Scheme, Michael Kolar, and many many more, so, if you don’t like the list send them the hate mail hahaha.. Enjoy it here

FLUd

*FLuD: FLuDing The Market
FLuD makes a dope turntable watch… That’s the first thing I found out about FLuD, and really since then, the rest has all been background noise.  There fresh designs, attention to the full watch, and Hip Hop aesthetic make their wrist pieces a powerful megaphone for the NYC-based brand with a funny looking name.  Find out why FLuD is fresh, the origin of the name, and their upcoming projects in the exclusive interview here.    –
