When you mix the slums of Philly, Bailman jeans, Rodarte sweaters, Martinelli apple juice, and weed together, The Dirty Middle Class emerges with countless forms of Hip Hop. “I’m a premium kind of n*gga. If you saw me walking down the street I’m like in Balmain and Timbs in the middle of the f*cking hood where everyone is wearing Air Max 24-7,” said the 20 year old emcee, ASAAD, the man behind Dirty Middle Class.   The mixtape is an experimentally genius 20-track project, sporting a wide spectrum of sounds. ASAAD immediately gains listener’s attention on “Black Kid’s Dream”, emphasizing the joyous and prosperous life he is beginning to enjoy all while keeping true to the DMC aesthetic by following with the trap trunk rap rattler  “Mr. White Lighter”.

The opposites collide throughout as ASAAD makes it clear that his styles as an emcee can be just as diverging as his interests. Eating sushi while drinking mineral water is nothing out of the ordinary for ASAAD, who boasts of pulling high end fashion supermodels with ease. You may assume such a feat would be reserved for a Shia Labouf-esque actor, not a rapper from the slums of North Philly. But after hearing the post-dub/soul vibe on “Fated”, understanding the spectrum of ASAAD’s style and personality becomes more comprehensible.

He employs an emphatic and swagged out delivery over “Mr. White Lighter” & “Mobbin’”, while on “Dirty White Leathers” it’s what ASAAD says, not how he says that fuels the Nascent & QB banger.  The song is turned into a solemn anthem, that provides several memorable “one-liners” for you to mumble under your breath hours after listening.  With his newblack© motto and fellow #DMC crew, ASAAD is creating a way for opposites to inhabit the same space, beginning with the intricate experimental nature of this project. Be on the look out for ASAAD’s Top Floor (prod. by Nascent & QB) premiering exclusively on Ruby Hornet soon. #OTTN.
