Action Bronson

Is Action Bronson the best white rapper around these days? Granted, that title has less significance or stigma since the days when MC Serch locked a bunch of whack ones in a house and made them do tricks and rap for peanuts.  As Yelawolf noted in his BET Cypher, there are a lot to pick from in 2012 with names such as Mac Miller, Macklemore, Machine Gun Kelly, Yelawolf, and others readily available.  But, alas, the crown has to go to Action Bronson, a regular guy that makes regular guy raps about smoking copious amounts of weed, eating the finest dishes, doing gymnastics in odd places, and name dropping obscure athletes and pro wrestlers.  That was how Bronson won the hearts and minds of Hip Hop heads over the last 12-months, plus he’s got a live show where anything can happen.

On Rare Chandeliers, Bronson takes everything up a notch to make a cohesive and definitive project.  Alchemist handled all the production and recording, which gives the album a great sense of purpose.  Much like Blue Chips, Bronson let the tape run at all times, and the album is peppered with little skits and out takes.  This is my favorite Bronson release to date, and I love them all.  While I don’t think Action necessarily did anything super new on this one, he did everything super well and executed what he does to the utmost ability.
