Michael Jackson

When I was five I went to Disney World with my mom, my dad, and my brother.  It was there that I really thought Michael Jackson was a super 3D character, who just happened to sing.  If it could really all be that simple.  Jackson was a superhero in some ways, aside from the other MJ (Michael Jordan) there’s arguably no other person more recognizable in the world.  The news of Jackson’s death yesterday at the age of 50, hit me sometime during the 6th inning of the White Sox eventual victory over the L.A. Dodgers.  The tweets about Jackson’s death were accompanied by just as many that said the news of his death was a hoax.  Such wasn’t the case, and the world’s King of Pop sufferred a fatal heart attack while preparing for a comeback tour.  There’s both a lot to say about this death, as well as not much at all.  One of the world’s greatest entertainers has met his final resting place after a long and strange journey that saw Jackson as America’s darling as well as it’s freak show.  Well, here’s my  simple and final respect to the man that made Thriller, and captivated a five year old at Disneyworld.  I still have the Captain EO 3-D glasses.
