[Video] Psalm One: "A New Phaze" (Feat. The Hood Internet, Tanya Morgan and Fluffy)

Last week, Psalm One, aka 'Hologram Kizzie' dropped her album, Hug Life via Bandcamp and iTunes. This week, on the heels of a solid first week of sales for the largely independent artist out of Chicago, Psalm offers up the first video for the project for "A New Phaze" which has production from electronically-inclined production team The Hood Internet, as well as Cleveland hip-hop collective Tanya Morgan and right-hand woman Fluffy who all join her on the eclectically-fun track that sets the tone for the rest of what is to come from the project that firmly straddles several different genres and sounds that come together to provide a sampling of styles and endeavors that are hot right now. The video balances the different flavors on the project with what is largely a traditional hip-hop video that allows Psalm to take creative risks while staying rooted in the art-form that has brought her to prominence, while also touching on her community service and outreach endeavors. Psalm has always been at the forefront of what is happening in the middle of the map, evidenced by her firm link with the Minnesota-based DoomTree collective and Tanya Morgan feature here, and this video is a furtherance of that sentiment. [Video] Chance The Rapper & Jeremih Debut New Song

Last night in Chicago, Chance The Rapper held a secret show for students of DePaul University at Lincoln Hall in the city. A sort of off-the-cuff decision to do the show, Chance and crew were on a whole other level, taking things to a sort of unplugged feel as Chance was joined onstage by "The Social Experiment," the name for his backing band of Peter CottonTale, Nate Fox, Nico Segal and Greg Landfair, as well as Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart, who performed songs from Acid Rap and 10 Day with ease. Chance, whose manager is a graduate of DePaul, brought Jeremih out not once, but twice, to unveil songs that have yet to properly hit the 'net. In the video below, the pair perform the upcoming single. Live, Jeremih sounded so clear you would have thought he was being mixed and mastered on the spot. Jeremih and Chance also teamed up for the yet-unreleased track, unveiled at The Riviera in November as well. Check out the latest song from two Chicago natives, below.

[Video] Z-Money: "Jockin'"

Z-Money has been making waves around Chicago and national hip-hop scenes since dropping Heroin Musik earlier this year to skeptical critical acclaim. The mysterious Z-Money, who alleges to not do interviews, has been just that for me to a certain extent, a question mark on the scene I still don't know I have figured out. Regardless, he has an undeniable buzz and persona that will hook even the most staunchly lyrical hip-hop fan. Check out his video for "Jockin" below here.

ProbCause: "Biting Down" (Lorde Remix)

Fresh off a successful album release with The Recipe Vol. 2 and a summer playing North Coast and going on tour across the country with Cherub, Chicago native ProbCause returns home with a little something up his sleeve, releasing his remix of young Lorde's song "Biting Down", produced by COFRESI and released by Thissongissick. The slowed down version of the chorus mixed with rapid trap drums lays the perfect setting for Prob to do his things and brings to mind EDM-fueled singles like "LSD" that Prob has been mastering as of late. With him spending so much time on the road with the likes of Cherub, could we soon see a collab? Check it out below.

Mick Jenkins: "Cross Roads" (feat. Chance The Rapper & Vic Mensa)

Not too long ago, I was able to chill in the studio with production team On Gaud where we talked about all the material they had in the works and formally put me onto Mick Jenkins and his Trees & Truths mixtape. Since then, Mick has been on my radar. "Cross Roads" is a great record with a smooth vibe that will surely showcase Mick's talent to a wider audience thanks to Chance The Rapper & Vic Mensa's guest-appearance.
