Curren$y And Action Bronson Team Up For "Scarab 38"

Curren$y's latest release The Marina EP, which came out last week, is an 8 track, star-studded EP filled with features from artists like French Montana, Action Bronson and Wiz Khalifa going toe to toe with the New Orleans MC. Curren$y linked up with producer Harry Fraud on the album and all of the beats are crafted to match the vintage Miami aesthetic that's found throughout the EP.

One track in particular stands out, "Scarab 38" is a summertime bop. The beat sounds like the soundtrack to a James Bond style speedboat getaway, complete with coast guard radio chat scattered throughout the track. Action Bronson kicks things off with his trademark braggadocios style followed by Curren$y humblebragging in a way that only a truly successful rapper can, not aspirational but casually observational.

Curren$y Does His Thing When It Comes To Rap

Curren$y has made a habit of releasing free projects on a moment's notice. And when it comes to giving fans a consistent product, he's one of the best. He's so good at that, the The Spring Collection isn't just new music, but also features Curren$y curating the listening experience. On the intro, he clearly states the purpose of the project and the best ways to enjoy it. He gives his fans a chance to get ready, grab their "supplies", and enjoy. He interjects through the project as well, coaching them along on where they should be in their consumption of said "supplies".

The theme of Curren$y being ill at this rap shit runs throughout the project, and perhaps is best illustrated on "4 Phantoms" a crash course in how Curren$y has maintained when several of his peers are no longer really doing it. He spits effortlessly, "I do my thing when it come to rap, I buy more jewelry because of that."

Well done, Spitta. Well done.

[Mixtape] Curren$y & Young Roddy: "Bales"

Not too long ago, a 'tape between Curren$y and his label-signee, Young Roddy, was announced to be in the works, and it was supposed to hit the streets shortly after. Well yesterday, the two rappers dropped Bales, an 11-track project, dedicated specifically to all the #JetLife fans out there who had been expecting a new release from the camp. A standout joint from the tape is "Walkie Talkie," which was produced by Chicago's own and prominent Spitta collaborator, Thelonious Martin. Check out the song below and the whole project after the jump.

Curren$y: "Killer$" (feat. Trinidad James)

A collaboration between Curren$y & Trinidad James might seem to have come straight out of left-field, but I'm not totally surprised that these two linked up for a record. "Killer$" finds the two rappers spitting over a sped-up sample, with Spitta going in first and Trinidad doing a quick 16 later.

And just like that, Spitta is back it with new visuals for "Living For The City," off his New Jet City project. Definitely one of the dopest projects to drop in 2013 so far. Watch below. I hope we get the "Three 60" visuals next.
